#Dam Removal progress Des Plaines IL .

Earlier this year May 22, 2016 I paddled the Des Plaines River Marathon for 18.5 miles starting at Oak Springs Road down to Euclid.  The paddle was enjoyably slow down the Des Plaines River.  Being in a high population density area, I was totally surprised how civilization had not touched the river.  The river is surrounded by Forest Preserve with only a few dwellings along the river.  Many of the dams on this route have already been removed.   The Dam at River Road and Dempster Street is currently being removed.   Stan Kotecki © Photo # Dam Removal
